CONSTRUCTORS CLASSIC GT
Also Known As
CC/GT
The intent of the CC/GT concept
The primary intent for developing the CC/GT class is to provide an ultra competitive non-magnet racing category by incorporating a specification structure that standardizes the chassis, motor and gearing that can be used. A measure of mechanical aptitude is required to assemble a CC/GT car and attention to details will determine the level of competitiveness. Constructors are encouraged to select a body style that emulates a GT class car in the truest sense in both detail and realism. It should be noted that the details, regulations and specifications that follow will be closely scrutinized and or enforced in order to produce the most competitive racing possible.
CC/GT
Regulations & Specifications
1.1 ELIGIBLE BODY STYLES
All CC/GT cars must be based on replicas of 1:1 scale mass produced sedans, coupes and convertibles of 1980 vintage year model and older that were readily available to the general public. Constructors should be prepared to present photographic evidence that their chosen body style was in fact in production or raced prior to 1981. All eligible body styles would have been capable carrying more than two passengers in street legal trim, i.e. they must have had a back seat or at minimum a rear bench. For example, a Porsche 911 was actually equipped with rear seats that were very small and capable of accommodating two children or one adult…at least for short trips
. Le Mans Prototype (LMP) and “super car” based cars are not eligible. All cars will utilize the Slot.It HRS chassis. See subsequent sections for details, regulations and specifications.
2.1 BODIES
All bodies must be hard or rigid, opaque plastic or resin material. Bodies may be modified to facilitate or accommodate mounting to the Slot-It HRS chassis. Air control surfaces such as front and rear spoilers, valances or splitters that were originally on the selected body must remain in place unless modeler’s putty or filler material is used to cover holes or notches where they were previously placed. Air control surfaces such as front and rear spoilers, valances or splitters or any other type of air control surface may not be enlarged or added to the selected body. Wheel wells may not be cut or altered in any way.
Grills must be in place if they were originally present on the selected body. Screen material may be used to replace lost or broken grills. Large open holes in the front, side(s) or rear of bodies are not acceptable. Cars must start each race with all parts intact, except for mirrors, wipers and antennas. Body liveries may be painted or taped and creativity is encouraged. However, paint schemes must be presentable with no offensive or inappropriate graphics. All cars must “look” like race cars and all cars must have numbers in at least three locations on the body, with two of those locations being on the doors or sides of the body. All cars must have transparent windshield and rear window.
2.2 INTERIORS
All bodies must carry an interior that includes three dimensional steering wheel, driver’s arms, hands, shoulders and head. These parts may be affixed to any opaque material to make a tray that is of a size that covers the entire area covered by the original interior. In other words, the chassis and the mechanical workings must not be visible when viewing the car from the top, front, rear or sides. Opaque vacuum formed interiors may be used provided the driver’s head/helmet is fully three dimensional and separate from the interior tray
3.1 CHASSIS
All CC/GT cars must utilize the Slot.It HRS or HRS 2 chassis system in the IN-LINE configuration. All Slot.It inline motor pods are legal. Slot.It magnetic or spring suspension systems may be used.
3.2 MOTOR
Only Slot.It 21,500rpm “orange” end bell motors may be used.
3.3 GEARING
All cars must use a 9 tooth pinion, 28 tooth crown gearing combination. FYI, the Slot.It 28 tooth crown gear is YELLOW.
4.1 AXLES & WHEELS
All cars must be equipped with four wheels, one at or near each corner of the car. Wheels must be proportional in size as to appear appropriate for the selected body. Any plastic, aluminum or magnesium wheel may be utilized.
4.2 TIRES
Only NATURAL RUBBER tires may be used. This excludes the use of silicone, silicone rubber, slilly-foam or foam tires. Front tires may not be wider than 10mm. Rear tires may not be wider than 12mm at the contact surface.
4.3 TRACK WIDTH
Front wheels and tires may not protrude outside of the body on either side. Rear wheels and tires may not protrude more than 1mm outside of the body on either side. THIS REGULATION WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
5.1 GUIDE BLADES/BRAID
Only standard Slot.It guide may be used. Any manufacturer’s braid can be used.
6.1 WEIGHT (optional)
Weight may be added but, must not be visible. All weight added to the underside of the chassis must be covered with a non-conductive material. The overall weight of the car may not exceed 100gms. The use of traction magnets is not allowed.
7.1 LIGHTING (optional)
Any manufacturer’s lighting kit may be used.
